Top 5 Wednesday- Books that made you cry

Top 5 Wednesday Goodreads:

Before I begin let me preface by saying I don't cry alot when it comes to books. Now with movies and t.v shows, I bawl my little eyes out. I suppose it's with something actually seeing it instead of reading it? I'm not to sure. With that being said, it takes alot and I mean ALOT for a book to make my cry. Everyone's different I suppose.

Here are the books that made me cry a river...well not literally...well maybe literally.
*These are in no order by the way. Just the top 5 :-) *

1. The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold.

I read this when I was the mere age of 14 which is quite young to read this book but alas I read it!
The whole book is just sad so be prepared to start crying from the get go!

2. Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson

Now I try to avoid cancer books at all costs. My younger brother had cancer (he is 100% ok now) and it was just a really rough time in my family's live. I loved this book and how it was from the perspective of a family member who was dealing with a very close relative having cancer. I could relate to the main character %100 so hence all the tears. The ending was just gut wrenching though!

3. The Fault In Our Stars by John Green

I'm sure this is on at least 70% people's list. Now I will admit since I took forever and a day to read this book, I already knew what was coming. The writing was just so beautiful and poignant that you can't help but to shed a tear or a dozen in my case.

4. Allegiant by Veronica Roth

Talk about a heart and gut wrenching book. This book made me a toddler sob. Man oh man Veronica Roth, why you gotta do a sister like that??

5. The Art of Racing In The Rain by Garth Stein

This book takes place from a dog's point of view and you can tell from the get go what's gonna happen. As a dog lover and owner this book was very hard for me to read. I am expecting my first child but before that was even thought into existence I have had my lovely dog, Colleen. She is like my first child in a way. If you are a dog lover you will understand. I love my Colleen like nothing else, dogs are truly man's best friend.
This book was so beautiful and so sad and I am glad to have read it despite the buckets of tears it caused me. Oh the buckets of tears!!!

Well that was all the books that made me cry! I'm sure there will be more that make me cry later down the road! What books made you cry?

Oh and because I can't help myself I will include a picture of my dear Colleen. Isn't she adorable?

  1. The Art of Racing In The Rain sounds like a book for me, for when I'm in the mood for a good sob. Come to think of it, the tough lives of animals make me cry a lot more often than when humans are having a hard time. Especially in movies! When an animal gets hurt I'm all like SOMEONE BRING THAT POOR DARLING TO THE VET! NO YOU CAN'T JUST LET IT DIE, NO! And when a human being gets hurt I'm all like: how unfortunate.

I'm a total dog-person too, so yep, I added this one to my TBR! Thanks for recommending it! :)

  2. I may look into reading The Lonely Bones and The art of racing. If i'm in need of a tear jerker I'll pick those.
Congrats on your first little one on the way!

  3. TFiOS made me cry hard- both times I read it (not so much the movie though). There was something so sad (more than the dying), about the ending. Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma made me ugly cry. That book ripped my heart out and stomped it on the floor. If I Stay by Gayle Forman, oh boy. I listened to the audiobook while I was purging files at work one day and I made so many bathroom trips to dry my eyes. That one hurt my heart.

I really loved your list. Thanks so much for sharing.

  5. Allegiant and The Fault in Our Stars made me cry to the point I was actually sobbing and could no longer read the words on the page. I do a similar thing to this top 5 Wednesday on my blog

  6. I always love it when I come across people (particularly book people!) who love their dogs like I love mine! I have two and they are my babies. I always joke that when I have my first child that it will actually be my third :-) I love your blog and your videos and Colleen is gorgeous! I have just started my own book blog at - I am still working up the courage to do videos though :-)
