Harper Price, peerless
Southern belle, was born ready for a Homecoming tiara. But after a
strange run-in at the dance imbues her with incredible abilities,
Harper's destiny takes a turn for the seriously weird. She becomes a
Paladin, one of an ancient line of guardians with agility, super
strength and lethal fighting instincts.
Just when life can't get any more disastrously crazy, Harper finds out who she's charged to protect: David Stark, school reporter, subject of a mysterious prophecy and possibly Harper's least favorite person. But things get complicated when Harper starts falling for him--and discovers that David's own fate could very well be to destroy Earth.

What an amazing book! It was funny, witty & I could not put it down! Harper was an easy likable character. She is a southern belle trying to be perfect. From being in countless clubs, keeping up good grades, being head cheerleader and attending cotillion, she has to spin about 1000 plates.
When she receives the duty to become a Paladin, she is anything but thrilled. Then Harper learns who she must protect- David Stark aka her nemesis. Life could not get crazier, but wait it does!
This book is full of action and laughs and it had amazing pacing! I loved reading Harper & David's constant banter and their obvious chemistry. Again the pacing was amazing, I did not get bored reading this book, once!
I cannot wait to continue reading this series! Plus the cover, if that doesn't draw you in I don't know what will.
If you are looking for a fun & witty & fantasy type of novel you need to pick it up. Plus it's got all the Southern charm you will ever need, Y'ALL.
The Book-Tube community seems to all be reading and/or praising this book (Rebel Belle) right now. I'll have to read it!
ReplyDeleteI'm currently reading To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han that you mentioned in your anticipated reads of 2014 video. The premise of it just sounded really interesting and the cover is eye catching. I see you're reading it right now, as well! Can't wait to hear your thoughts on it! I, personally, love the characters in it. Lara Jean could be me when I was her age...reading, baking, knitting, scrapbooking...I did all of that as a teenager and was definitely considered to be a bit more on the quirky side. :)
Always love your recommendations! Keep them coming!
I absolutely loved this book! It's practically Buffy (favorite show of all time) as a modern southern belle. Since you enjoyed it you should definitely check out Hawkins other novels. Her Hex Hall and School Spirits series also have that fun witty heroine. Or similarly the Paranormalcy series by Kiersten White in which the main protag carries a pink bejeweled taser, needless to say it's awesome.
