Top Ten Tuesday- Things I Like/Dislike When It Comes To Romances In Books

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the lovely The Broke & The Bookish.

This week is all about Things I Like/Dislike When It Comes To Romances In Books.
It's no secret I love romance in books. However there are some things I don't like!
Here goes the list!

1. Insta-love

I highly dislike instalove. I do somewhat believe in love at first sight but in books instalove is the WORST. For a couple to get together within 20 pages just baffles me. As readers I think we all enjoy the buildup, the awkward moments it takes for a couple to become well...a couple.

2 & 3. The Buildup.

Yes I putting this as #2 and #3 because I love and hate the buildup of relationships in books. In a lot of books I love it! The buildup is sweet and you can wait patiently for it. In some books the buildup is slow and feels like the couple will never get together, but then they do in the last 20 pages of the book. WHAT?!
So it can be done right & it can be done wrong.

4. Bad boys

I love me some bad boys in books. In real life, not so much. In books you can get this real jerk, bad boy who thinks he's so tough to learn he's really a great guy with an amazing heart. Should I make a list of my favorite bad boys in books? Comment below!

5.  Adultery

I've been reading a ton of adult fiction these past couple of years and in alot of them there was adultry. I go into a nice adult romance book expecting for lovey dovey feels only to find someone cheats on their spouse and I truly despise that. Sure it happens in real life I get that but I'm an old soul that really believe in marriage and the sanctity of it. Cheating in marriages just really, really grinds my gears!

6. The friends turned into loves

I truly love it when a book starts off with a guy and girl who are friends and then later in the book realize 'hey I love him/her!' *cough Ron & Hermione cough*

7 & 8. Love Triangles

I somewhat like & dislike love triangle's all at once. There are some books that do it amazingly and some books are just horrible at it.

9. The Girl that always needs saving

Oh man there are so many books where the girl just needs to be saved all the time and I'm not a huge fan of that at all!

10.

I couldn't think of a tenth one, haha!

  1. I'm the exact same way when it comes to bad boys. In books they are completely swoon worthy but I'll come across one in the real world and it's a complete turn-off. And don't even get me started on girls that always need saving. I'm a huge fan of strong, independent heroines, I hate reading about a Daphne.
By the way I absolutely adore your blog/youtube channel!

  2. You know, I never thought about the adultery thing before but I totally agree! I get really disappointed when I see that in romances that I thought were going to be something else- I just don't find it attractive or enticing.

Here is mine this week :) http://busybrunettesbookshelf.blogspot.com/2015/02/top-ten-tuesday-likesdislikes-about.html
