Movie Review: Gone Girl

                                                               Gone Girl
                      Release Date: October 3, 2014
 Directed by: David Fincher
Based on the book: Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
Starring: Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Neil Patrick Harris, Tyler Perry

I've been meaning to watch this movie for awhile. The book is raved about throughout the booktube & blogging community. I knew I would never read the book because I'm not a huge fan of thriller novels ( because I'm a huge wuss) but I knew I would be able to watch the movie.
I will admit I did go into the movie somewhat knowing what the end was because I just heard about it but I didn't know the exact details of how it all took place.

I loved this movie!
That's saying alot because I'm a huge wuss and hate thriller movies. Yes this was a thriller movie but it was more unraveling a mystery if you will. I loved watching Ben Affleck going through the struggle of trying to figure out what happened to his wife.

Ben Affleck has never been one of my favorite actors but I really enjoyed him in this. I also thought Rosamond Pike performed well. All the people in the movie did amazingly!

David Fincher also directed The Social Network & The Curious Case of Benjamin Button which both are movies I really enjoyed so I knew he would do well with this movie.

SPOILERS AHEAD (DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T READ OR WATCHED THE MOVIE)

Man oh man was this movie a puzzle. I knew ultimately that Amy was not dead, rather that she had 'staged' her death and was trying to frame her husband for it. I did not know how she went about it, and how far she was willing to go. Amy is full on crazy. Crazy that needs to be checked into a ward kind of crazy.
I wish we knew more on Amy's back story. What made her this way? I would love if the author wrote a book about it because I would def. read it. Amy is a complex character that needs to be delved into further.

Overall, if your looking for a thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat, look no further!

If you read Gone Girl & saw the movie, what did you think of it?
Was it a faithful adaptation?

The Amazing Spider-Man 2

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 directed by  Marc Webb
Starring: Andrew Garfield
Emma Stone
Jamie Foxx
Released on: April 16, 2014

So you all know I love my superhero movies, right? Here it is, another Marvel one! I must I was not expecting to much going into this movie. The reason why is because the original Spider-Man movies, the ones directed by Sam Raimi and starring Toby Maguire and Kristen Dunst. I did not love those movies. I think when I first saw them when I was the ripe age of 13 I loved them but after re watching them several times, well they're not that great.
I will say Spider-Man 2 was great but for the life of me I cannot shake the awfulness that was Spider-Man 3. I will forever remember the scenes where Toby Maguire suddenly got emo and kept sweeping his hair and that piano bar scene!? What?!
Ok enough about that. I didn't love the first Amazing Spider-Man that much. I thought it was better than the original Spider-Man but I didn't love love it. Now with this movie, I thought it was leap and bounds better than the first one.
First of all I think Andrew Garfield is a great Spider-Man. I've loved Andrew since The Social Network and I just think he's got that geekiness and humor that Spider-Man is known for. I also love Emma Stone as Gwen Stacey. I did not like Kristen Dunst at all as Mary Jane but Emma Stone is amazing.  The whole cast was amazing. I loved Electro and Green Goblin.

The action scenes were great and they looked amazing. I even loved the music in this movie. One scene when Electro is about to fry a bunch of people some crazy dark techno rock plays and I don't know why but I loved it! This coming from a girl who's not a huge fan of techno but I just thought it played in nicely with the movie.

The one thing I didn't love about this movie was the ending. It felt rushed, way to rushed. It was like they were trying to jam 50 things in 20 minutes. I wanted more of a climatic battle with Electro. I felt like it was over way to fast. The big shocker on this movie ( which it's not a shocker if you know the comic books) was played out well but happened way to fast.

That was the only huge downfall for me with this movie. The ending was just to rushed. Other than that I did really enjoy the movie and I'm excited to see what the 3rd one will hold. I know that they are building up to the Sinister Six ( Thanks bro!) and that Shailene Woodley was supposed to be Mary-Jane in this movie but that it got cut. As for her returning to be in the next one, I can only hope so! She was great in Divergent and I think she will be an awesome Mary-Jane!

Captain America: The Winter Solider

Captain America: The Winter Solider directed by: Anthony & Joe Russo
Released on  April 4, 2014
Genres: Superhero, Action
Starring: Chris Evans, Scarlett Johanson, Samuel L. Jackson

Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and battles a new threat from old history: the Soviet agent known as the Winter Soldier.
Everytime there is a Marvel or any Superhero movie, I run to the theaters. My Dad is a HUGE comic book fan. Ask him anything about Marvel & he will gladly tell you. I didn't gain his comic book love though, that went to my little brother who also knows everything about Marvel. Even though I know squat about comic books, I love watching the movies! I always make sure to tow my brother or my Dad to the movies so I can lean over and ask 'Who's that?' or 'Wait, I don't understand what's going on!?'

Love of books even comic books runs in my blood, what can I say?
I have to be honest I wasn't a huge fan of the first Captain America movie. I didn't hate it, I just didn't really enjoy it that much. That being said I went into this movie with little to no expectations only to walk out of it with my MIND BLOWN!
The first 15 minutes had a ton of action, comedy & suspense and I was hooked! I usually take into rating movies for the amount of times I look at my phone to check the time. Did I look at my phone during the movie? Not once! I was so enthralled by the plot and action I could not tear my eyes away from the screen!
Now if you have seen this movie you know there is a huge plot twist. I did not know the plot twist until my brother leaned over and spoiled it for me. Still an amazing plot twist at that! I never saw that coming!
If your a fan of Marvel comics, go see this.
If your a fan of action movies, go see this.
If your a fan of awesome movies, you get the hint.
GO SEE THIS!
Here's the start of the summer blockbusters!
